Qian (Ann) Han

I am drawn to neuroscience because it offers tools for understanding pain, perception, behavior, and recovery. Anthropology expands that inquiry: it asks how culture, language, family, and institutions determine which experiences are seen and which remain invisible.

Across research, advocacy, and the arts, I look for practical ways to connect evidence with care. That has meant building a machine-learning system for earlier harmful-algal-bloom detection, studying the relationship between eczema and mental distress, working in neuroscience research, and creating community education around coercive control.

I value exacting work and clear communication equally. Whether I am explaining a model, choreographing a performance, or assembling a community resource, I want the result to be rigorous enough to trust and human enough to use.
